Following from my previous work on The Audreys Sometimes the Stars. I've recently had the honour of working with another of my favourite Australian musicians, the artist Gotye.
Mechanical Apple was tasked with creating an animated clip for the song Bronte from his upcoming album Making Mirrors. The clip took several months to complete and was created with the masterful assistance of Jason Pamment. It will premiere at the Graphic festival in Sydney, on the 20th of August, alongside a live performance by Gotye of his new album.
I'll be sharing more about the creation of the clip post its release. For now I'll leave you with the opening lines from the pitch which went as follows:
A fairy tale, dream-like. A world of bright sunlight and vibrant saturated colour, that matures as time passes, becoming harder, more real, until finally only fragments remain of the world now lost.
Within this vanishing world, a herd of creatures: quiet, ancient and wild. Creatures forgotten by time, alive now only in the memories of a young woman.
Talk soon
Ari :)

Love the animation for Bronte...it reminds me of an amalgamation of Hayao Miyazaki and Jamie Hewlett...but only reminiscent, and completely unique. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI discovered your wonderful animation when listening to Gotye's clips on YouTube. The wild spirit of the little girl reminded me of my daughter. I knew my daughter would love it so I sent her the link. She said that she was hoping that it was a trailer for a new movie! We want to see more! Jeff--U.S.
